With 55,075 miles on the clock, this 2015 Miata Club is in good condition. I’ m going to go check it out tomorrow. But there’ s one problem with it that I wanted to run by here:
Its a slush box. Other than that it has no issues or accidents.
Price o n it is $15,888.

The auto totally poisons it for enthusiasts. Unless you must have your Miata with an auto (e.g. you’re missing your left leg) it cancels out the nice spec, therefore CP.

That’ s how I was feelings. The extra sporty stuff the Club comes with is almost canceled out with the auto.

Just for comparison, I bought a 2015 GT PRHT, manual with Meisters, RPF1s, brand new potenzas, Wilwood LBBK, smart top, header, battery relocate done with new AGM, intake, custom tune and the stock computer with the stock tune. It had 16.4k miles on it for $15k on the last weekend of May in the Bay Area of NoCa. It came with every single stock part the car came with (including rims and tires).
After a thousand miles, I love the car. That seems a little steep from my experience. I had been seriously shopping since Oct 2019 though so it took me a while to find it and I had to compromise on the paint color I wanted but it was too good a deal to pass up .
My first Miata, it’s a joy to drive.

The 78 year old lady across the street from me has a Miata with an automatic.

Congrats on the purchase. You got a hell of a deal considering the miles. Compared to yours, this does seem steep and might be priced a grand or 2 too high. For comparison , a dealer about 40 miles from where this one is has a 2016 (the first year of the current gen) Miata Sport with a slushbox with 21,435 miles for a shade under $17k. I feel like this is one of those “we know what we have” type of things and they are trying to capitalize on it being a Club trim.

Damn ha. Thanks.

First off NDs are that cheap now. Second, on the new cars autos take away Bilsteins and LSD. You might be losing the things that make it a club.

I honestly compromised on the auto vs manual because I found at least a dozen acceptable autos during my time shopping. I drove plenty of them. They’re fine. The manual on these is really pretty great across the board. My particular car shifting into fourth is sublime in fact when pushing hard.
If you are not going to seriously throw it around AND you are going to keep it, I think the autos are “fine”. No judgement. As good as it is, it’s still a clutch in traffic (if you are going to drive it in traffic). I do not think I’d have any serious regrets about the auto but I’m almost 50 and have street rods and usually sport bikes (just not atm). If I am truly going to go fast, this isn’t what I’m doing it in.
I waited and I compromised on color of paint and interior to get the manual and wound up with a good deal and an EXTREMELY well cared for car. It was worth it for me. Make sure you drive a few if at all possible and really ask yourself how important it is to you.
EDIT: I’d add that I could feel VERY little difference in the club and GTs stock. I drove more than a dozen cars before buying mine. If you are going to drive it hard, you’re going to replace the corners anyway. Don’t let that be the decision maker.

ND’s are this cheap now yea. But its mostly base Sport trims. At least in my area. I mentioned to someone else that I also found a 2016 ND with 21k on the odo for 17 grand. But its a base Sport trim and an auto.

Can you drive a stick? Aside from the price being too high, a stick really changes the Miata experience. It’s how the car was intended and engineered.

It was listed for $18k for a month before the seller decided to let it go. Like I said though, I took a long time shopping for it. If you haven’t spent too much time on Miata.net forums yet, get friendly with them. ;) Good hunting, they are wonderful little cars. PRHT was mandatory for me so I didn’t look at the NDs at all; just all the NCs.

There are certain cars that you’d be clinically insane to not get the manual, no matter the cost.
This is one of them.

If I was buying an miata I’d go for a stick. However, I rented an Nd with an auto. Put it manual mode and 3k Downshifts, the transmission wouldn’t hesitate sending the throttle to 5k. To summarize an auto wouldn’t be my first choice, but I wouldn’t kick it out of my garage.

Decent price. More interesting than a convertible Mustang for cruising, if you don't mind the smaller trunk.

Right. IF they came with an attractive price/payment, I’d be happy to live with it.

That wouldn’ t be fine. Especially as this would be a second car.

Wouldnt ever consider one in auto.

I’ll agree that the manual of the way to go, but I happen to own an auto NC PRHT, and it’s actually pretty darn good. For a conventional torque converter slushbox, Mazda really did a great job tuning it to not suck.

Fair price if it was manual, overpriced as an auto.

TBH I thought NDs were regularly around that price but seems like outliers now that I look harder . IMO NCs are a weird purchase right now, especially for $ 15K. I ts still got another 10k to depreciate and while thats true for an ND, it’ll look “new” for another 5 years or so.
But also, get the manual.

Yes, but for cruising, it is worse in every way than a Mustang.

That difference was less than I was initially expecting

I bought my 06 touring 5spd with ~90k miles for less than $6k with a new top, garage kept , ALL fluids recently replaced and with new tires. Not a scratch inside or out. Whole thing in pristine condition including the engine bay. It also has upgraded Flyin Miata sway bars.
I don’t think I would spend $15,000 on the same exact vehicle with less horsepower and a automatic no matter how newer it was. I know the mileage is a little bit lower but not much considering these engines go for 300 to 400 thousand miles.

That’s true - I’ve driven a first gen and a third gen, and I can’t imagine either car without 3 pedals.

For reference, I just bought a 2016 GT, manual, 25k miles on it, for $2k more then this.

Call me insane. I bought a 2020 cl ub FB for a daily driver/commuter car. I can drive stick but I just can't justify the pleasure of a relaxing commute vs having to shift so often

Owner of 3 M iatas.... Auto is a giant and resounding nope, any other car maybe, but a Miata has to be a stick.

Crack pipe, it’s too close to 6MT ND money. My friend bought a 40k mile 6MT ND Club with the BBS/Brembo kit for about 19k two years ago. I see Sports and Clubs going for ~15k now.

My ex wife bought a white Miata club with an automatic. My current wife has a 2018 white Miata grand touring RF that's a 6 speed. See where I'm going with this?

Real talk, if you don’t, I know someone (a non-enthusiast) who is looking for this EXACT car - an automatic, white/black Miata in the 15-20 range.
![]() 08/05/2020 at 21:48 |

Do do not buy this car with an automatic transmission. There were hundreds of them on the market I waited until I could find a 2017 RF manual there is no other way but the Miata manual gearbox
